Miss Ashley

Owner

Miss Ashley is a native of Pittsburgh, PA and relocated to North Carolina in 2003. Miss Ashley is a married mother of one wonderful and talented daughter. While in Pennsylvanina, Miss Ashley obtained a certificate in Early Childhood Education. Once in North Carolina, Miss Ashley received her Early Childhood Education Credentials and Childcare Administration Credentials. Miss Ashley is certified in both CPR and First Aid. She is an entrepreneur who has been busy owning and operating several successful businesses. Miss Ashley is extremely enthusiastic, very well-loved, and gets so excited when the kids learn something new. She loves them and is so proud of them. I have always said Ashley provides that perfect mixutre of love and discipline that makes the kids feel secure and respectful and gives them the desire to do well.

The Other Miss Caroline

Financial Director

Miss Caroline is an absolute treasure. One of the things that we love most about her is that she is highly organized and loves to help keep our center meticulously clean!! She was the second of four kids growing up with a Dad in the Air Force and they moved all over the United States as well as England. Her parents settled in the Philadelphia area where she attended the College of New Jersey and met her husband John. She has a degree in Elementary Education/Psychology. Before joining our staff at Kids at Play, she was very happy to have been a stay-at-home mom to her two energetic boys, Jack ( 5) and Luke (2). She has 4 nieces and 4 nephews and lots of experience.

Miss Michelle

Miss Michelle was born in Germany. As an army brat, she has been all over the world and is married with one adorable child. Just call the little one her "mini-me." She has been working with children since her camp counselor days at the age of 16, and she loves shaping young minds. After 20 years of working with children she still finds every new day exciting and challenging. As a preschool teacher of two and three-year olds, which can be very challenging, Michelle remains patient and she uses her experience gained from years of teaching Sunday School, working with youth, and working in the church nursery for several years, to help promote respectful and inclusive behavior. She has studied child psychology, and child development and has attended "Effective Teacher Training" classes.

Miss Michelle is probably our most creative, "if you can dream it we can do it..." staff member, and the kids know she is full of FUN!

Owner

Miss Caroline is from Chapel Hill, NC where her father received his Doctorate and taught Music at the University. Married to Michael, they have 3 children, 18, 10, and 8. Caroline also received her degree in Communications in 1990 from UNC-Chapel Hill with a concentration in Public Relations. Raised in a family that placed a very strong emphasis on academia, she was surrounded when she was growing up with authors, musicians, scholars, and artists.

She loves being a mom and her first job was as a babysitter. She helped to raise several wonderful children in addition to her own 3.

She is a full-time real estate agent with Prudential at Wrightsville Beach, as well as helping to oversee operations at Kids At Play.

Miss Jane

Teacher in our Four Year Old Class

Although Miss Jane originally hailed from New Jersey, she has truly adapted to being a southerner y'all, and couldn’t imagine herself anyplace else. She left the Jersey Shore behind to attend college at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Special Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. Miss Jane spent 8 years teaching students with learning disabilities and severe behavior disorders before taking on her next big challenge—raising three boys!! Now that her youngest is 2 she has decided to jump back into the working world with both feet, and is so excited to be teaching our four year old class. Between her career experience and her own three sons (who will all be Kids at Play graduates some day!) Miss Jane is smart and funny and ready for anything that comes her way!

Miss Chelsea

Our biggest little friends, our after schoolers, think she is the bomb!!

She is super fun and creative and what we love about her is she has that thing about her that makes the kids listen!! She is extremely responsible and capable and we were highly impressed from her first day on the job! The kids love her, we love her, and the parents love her. She's awesome!!!
